I’m interested in protein diffusion in bacterial cells. The targeted protein is labelled with a fluorescent protein (such as a Green Fluorescent Protein / GFP) so that I can visualise its mobility in the bacterial cytoplasm using a fluorescence microscope.
-
My Typical Day:
A typical day for me consists mainly of lab work. I am interested in protein dynamics in live bacteria cells so I do hours and hours of fluorescence microscopy in a dark room. if I am not doing experiments in the lab, I’ll be in the office analysing results, discussing my findings with other members of the research group, and read papers.
